bio
Hooks & The Huckleberries are reckoning with the heartland, drawing from lived experience in the American interior while exploring the tension between nostalgia and truth. The band follows each song where it needs to go, pushing past sonic constraints and boxed-in genre expectations, driven by instinct, momentum, and purpose.
Their sophomore album, For the Love of Whatever, was produced by Matt Pence (Jason Isbell, Nikki Lane), expanding their sound into a wider, more dynamic version of their core identity without losing its edge or immediacy.
A 2024–2025 official SXSW artist, the band has shared stages with Reckless Kelly, Flatland Cavalry, Futurebirds, The Droptines, Kody West, and Vandoliers, building a reputation for forceful and uncompromising performances.
Their new single, “Skeleton Key,” marks the beginning of the next phase of their work and serves as a precursor to their forthcoming third album.

SONG PREMIERE: Understanding Meaning and Missions with Hooks & The Huckleberries on New Alt-country Single, “Babylon Is For Lovers”
"This classic composition embraces new stylistic movements in the sonic arrangement. It’s as if Explosions of the Sky collaborated with Jason Isbell."
"Fans of Lucero, Two Cow Garage, and Arliss Nancy — this New Mexico quartet is the band we’ve been waiting for. 'Jemez' finds them pushing themselves even further than before."
“Hooks sings, ‘toured a million miles, never made a dime. It still don’t matter, in that old Econoline.’ And that’s it, that’s why this is so wonderful. Never mind ‘whatever’ it’s all about the love of music for Hooks And The Huckleberries. That’s all that counts.”
